The Opportunity
The MetroHealth System, a nationally recognized, mission-driven academic health system and the largest public health provider in Northeast Ohio, is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the next Chairperson of the Department of Family Medicine.
MetroHealth’s Department of Family Medicine is a cornerstone of the system’s commitment to community-based, comprehensive care. With a dedicated team of 70–75 clinicians, including 55 board-certified physicians and 20 advanced practice providers, the department delivers high-quality, accessible care at 15–20 clinical sites across Cuyahoga County. The department supports a highly regarded Family Medicine Residency Program (established in 1974), now expanded to nine residents per year (27 total). MetroHealth is the primary academic affiliate of Case Western Reserve University and also hosts learners from Ohio University and NEOMED.
The Ideal Candidate
Reporting to the System EVP/Chief Clinical Officer, the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine will be a strategic, collaborative, and inspirational leader responsible for advancing clinical care, education, community outreach, and research. Progressive leadership experience in an academic or large healthcare setting, a record of scholarly or teaching activity and Board Certification in Family Medicine are required.

The Location
Cleveland, Ohio is located on the southern shore of Lake Erie, near the mouth of the Cuyahoga River. The area offers a mix of history and modern sophistication. The area’s economy has diversified sectors that include manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, and biomedical. Cleveland is home to three major league sports teams and is recognized as the 10th most philanthropic city in the nation.
